Lu Wei Xi sat by the desk in a daze as she rests her chin on her hand.

One minute, two minutes, three minutes ... until thirty minutes have passed. \

Yes, she had sat there motionlessly in that position for thirty minutes.

Next to her sat Mu Ran Ran who’s wearing a headset as she frowned at the computer screen in front of her. After a while, she couldn’t help but blurt out “shit” before the screen turned grey. Some angry voices from the headset floated in the air. This is the second time they were wiped out from the mission.

Such a simple foundation yet they failed twice...

Mu Ran Ran’s unfettered emotions could not be quelled and so, without hesitation, she left the group and clicked “Exit game.”

When she removed her headset, she turned and saw Lu Wei Xi staring into blank space with a thoughtful expression on her face.

“Miss Lu Wei Xi, are you still alive?”

“....Huh?” After being interrupted by Mu Ran Ran’s voice, Lu Wei Xi blinked and turned to look at her with bright eyes. She asked her in a serious tone, “Ran Ran, that evening when I went to the hospital, was I in a pathetic state?” 

When her words fell on Mu Ran Ran's ears, she sighed, “Ah Xi, you have already asked this question three times. Relax, if he saw your face….if I were to have your face, even I would think I was dreaming. When I wake up I would be filled with delight.”

“Oh…” There is no feeling of satisfaction from being praised. Lu Wei Xi propped her chin back on her hand and sighed, “Then when he spoke to me that day, why did he sound impatient?”

Mu Ran Ran stared at her, her calm expression slowly breaking away. She thought for a moment and replied, “Maybe he’s not impatient with anyone, of course, maybe it is because your reaction is stupid.”

Lu Wei Xi remained silent.

After a few seconds, she abruptly lifted her head, her eyes opened wide, “He, he….he couldn't possibly think that I intentionally fell into his arms right?”

Mu Ran Ran was left speechless. Already at her breaking point, she turned to call over Xia Nuan, “Xiao Nuan quickly come here, I have nothing else to say to this lovesick fool.”

Xia Nuan who was lying on her bed with earphones on felt Mu Ran Ran’s gaze on her but is unwilling to take off her earphones. She opened her mouth ready to ridicule them when an idea popped into her head, “Ah Xi, Ah Xi, I know how to rescue you from this sea of misery!”

“....Rescue me?” Lu Wei Xi blinked, not understanding what she meant. 

Ignoring her confused reaction, Xia Nuan had already got out of bed and brought her iPad over to them. She sat next to Lu Wei Xi and passed her the earphones as she seriously asked, “First of all, do you know what the online entertainment circle and CV are?”

“Isn’t CV* a summary when you hand in an application?” Lu Wei Xi naively answered her.

It’s like being transported to a second dimension.

An elegant and soothing piano piece sounded. Lu Wei Xi no longer spoke as she attentively nodded her head, quietly listening to the joys and sorrow of another world through the earphone.

As time passes by, her expression slowly became serious as she became more absorbed into the radio drama.

Xia Nuan who had been watching her reaction from the side couldn’t help but reveal a smug smile.

“Every time I see you, I would wonder in my heart, if I had missed this car, if I had gone to buy breakfast, if I had walked a bit slower, maybe I would not have met you.”

“But I still see you every time.”

The man’s voice is magnetic and deep whilst unexpectedly clean and pure.

The voice that she had been yearning for day and night sounded in her ears. Lu Wei Xi’s eyelashes trembled, the fire burning in her heart ignited once again.

After listening for a while, she took off the earphone and looked at Xia Nuan nervously, “Xiao Nuan, the CV from three minutes ago….who is it?”

Surprised by her nervous tone, Xia Nuan moved the progress bar to three minutes before and listened. She revealed a stunned expression, “So you like Wonder’s voice….he is very famous in the online entertainment circle.”

“Wonder? Is he really famous?”

She lowered her head and stayed silent. When she found her courage, she cleared her throat and bravely said, “Actually...Xiao Nuan, I think the voice I heard in the hospital that night….was his.”

That understatement, in an instant successfully pulled that person back from her thoughts. 

Shocked, Xia Nuan turned to look at Lu Wei Xi incredulously. After a few seconds, she retorted, “Impossible, Wonder has been living abroad for a few years. There hasn’t been any news that he recently returned to China…”

At 9:30 in the evening, Lu Wei Xi, wearing a thick red down jacket stood behind the counter in the convenience store, holding a pink Hello Kitty hand warmer.

The sky is getting darker earlier and the temperature is dropping lower with each passing day. In the past, during this time is when the market would be busy but now….there was only a small amount of people.

Lu Wei Xi sighed and thought about her part-time monthly salary of 1500. In the end, why did she choose a late shift a few days after getting a fever?

Bored, she looked out the sliding doors of the convenience store, already accustomed to the dark night scene. Lu Wei Xi looked away and took out her phone and put on headphones to listen to the radio drama.

Ever since she heard Wonder’s voice from Xia Nuan, she had already became addicted. 24 hours a day, whether it is during class, when she is eating or when she is shopping, she would hear his voice all the time.

The most incredible thing that Lu Wei Xi has ever done is probably hearing this voice at the hospital entrance. T

Thinking about it, that familiar clear voice from the earphone entered her ears once again. Although she has heard it a couple of times and had familiarized herself with every pause between sentences, it still took her breath away.

It seems that while listening to this person’s voice, even breathing is tricky.

She was too focused on the drama that she did not notice a tall, slender man walk in through the door.

The man has dark-colored hair with a medical mask covering nearly half of his face. His posture was good although it radiates an aloofness about him.

He walked to the counter and put the 500 ml. carton of milk on the counter, pulling Lu Wei Xi back to reality. Trying to control the shaking in her hand, Lu Wei Xi scanned the barcode on the carton and was just about to put it in a plastic bag when the man stopped her.

A clean, slender hand appeared in sight. Lu Wei Xi looked up and the blue and white medical mask c instantly came to her sight. 

The man’s eyes looked a bit distant with a layer of fatigue as he looks at her expressionlessly.

…..She’s not dreaming, is she?

Lu Wei Xi stared at him incredulously, her pair of round beautiful eyes getting wider and wider.

Her hand trembled as the phone she was holding fell to the ground. The headphones also disconnected from the jack, rolling to the side.

At this time–––

A man’s voice sounded from the phone, not too light, not too heavy, calm and perfect resonating through the quiet space.

"It’s not a coincidence if there are too many coincidences. It is inevitable. Between you and me...it is fate.”

Usually, whenever this voice enters her ear, it would be like a breath of fresh year, but right now, she was so embarrassed that she could not wait to dig a pit and jump in.

She stiffly bowed her head as she looks down at the phone with a horrified expression. All kinds of thoughts flashed before her eyes. 

Listening to the radio drama he is in while he stands in front of her... 

This feeling... can't be described in words.

In this moment of urgency, Lu Wei Xi still had the gall to guess whether the other party remembers her or not. They had just met in the hospital three days ago, but now...it seems he doesn’t remember her at all.

She had a feeling of frustration.

In a fluster, she picked up the phone and shut it down. When she stood up, she saw that the man in front of her is impatiently shifting his feet, his voice hoarse, “Checkout?”

No doubt, it sounds more like a statement than a question. He is dissatisfied with her work attitude and is urging her to check out. 

Trying to control the shaking in her hand, Lu Wei Xi scanned the barcode on the carton and was just about to put it in a plastic bag when the man stopped her.

“No need to bag it.”

The man didn’t speak, only looking down to take a credit card out of his wallet. When Lu Wei Xi swiped the card, she is an untimely fashion, suddenly remembered what one of her close friends who is studying in the States told her. When buying things abroad, regardless of the amount, no one will pay in cash. Almost everyone will use a card.

When she returned the card, Lu Wei Xi inadvertently looked down at the lower right corner of the card and made up a line of words–––

JIAN CHI.

....Jian Chi?

She was shocked by her sudden thought. But….that night in the waiting room, as she was entering, he was coming out. Maybe he is the number 76 who came before her.

Just then the receipt printed out from the machine. She ripped it off and handed it to him. The other party expressionlessly said thank and turned to leave with the carton of milk.

As the door slides shut, Lu Wei Xi stared at his back in a daze.

It is that voice, she could not be mistaken.
