I Want to Waste Away Time With You: Chapter 3

Because chapters are long and my term is starting, I will be splitting them into parts to make my life easier.

As Lu Wei Xi descended from the sixth floor, she didn’t notice the thin layer of snow circling and floating in the sky until she got out the door.

It’s snowing…...

From the entrance of the girls’ dormitory, she could see the figure of Lu Yu standing not far away. Afraid of facing the other party’s wrath, she decided not to go to get an umbrella and ran to him.

The cold wintry air entered her lungs. Lu Wei Xi quickly rushed over and said in embarrassment, “Sorry for taking so long, Senior Lu.”

“It’s nothing, I also just arrived.” Lu Yu smiled and naturally moved to her side, “I already told Fang Jing and Lin Yi Xuan to meet us at Starbucks. There are few people there and relatively quiet, so it is suitable for us to have group discussions. "

“Okay.” Lu Wei Xi nodded and voiced no other objection. After all, it doesn’t matter where she goes, as long as she could quickly finish this group report, hand it to the professor so she could get it over with.

It is very early in the morning on Saturday and the weather is extremely cold so there are not many pedestrians on the streets. Usually, during this time in City T the asphalt would be filled with people but at this time, it is unexpectedly tranquil.

Lu Yu walked beside her looking for a topic to chat about. In the beginning, when they talked about school, Lu Wei Xi would respond with a few words but then their conversation gradually moved toward her daily hobbies.

“Wei Xi, what would you usually like to do?” Lu Yu looked down at her and smiled warmly.

“There’s nothing special that I like to do except for singing. Occasionally, I would play games with Xia Nuan.” Lu Wei Xi hesitated before adding in a lukewarm voice, “However, recently I found a voice that I really like.”

When she said this, a car flew past them on the empty road as its horn sounded, creating an extremely harsh sound. Lu Yu frowned and waited until the car is far away before turning to ask her what she said. Lu Wei Xi shook her head, smiled and said nothing.

She lifted her head a little and looked at the white snowflakes in the air. Clear, incisive, with a lingering chill. Actually, it is much like the voice of that person.

Always calm, always perfect and forever out of reach.

When they reached Starbucks, Lu Yu received a call from Lin Yi Xuan who has lost his way.
Lu Yu hung up and helplessly said, “That kid is lost so I'll go pick him up. Why don’t you wait for us inside.”

Lu Wei Xi shook her head to show she doesn’t mind, “Fang Jing just texted me earlier and said that she is almost here. Why don’t I just wait for you by the door.”

“That’s fine.” Lu Yu thought about it and added, “Later when Fang Jing arrived and we’re not back, you two can go inside first. It’s a cold day so it’s not good for you girls to stand outside for too long."

“Okay.”

Lu Wei Xi waved at him, as his figure quickly disappeared down the road.

She stared down at her toes and waited for them. Bored, she looked up and from the corner of her eyes caught a glimpse of the thick glass window of the cafe. Because of the cold weather, a thin layer of mist-shrouded the entire glass, making it impossible to see what is inside.

Lu Wei Xi’s heart pounded as she approached. She looked around a few times to confirm that there is no one around before she took her right hand out of the warm pocket of her down jacket. She stared at the misty glass for a while before she stuck out her finger and carefully wrote a person’s name on the window.

Jian. Chi.

Jian from the heart as simple*, Chi from spring slowly arrived*.

T/N: Both of these lines are from famous poems which also contains the characters that make up his name.

When her hand came in contact with the icy glass, she unconsciously shivered, but she didn’t mind at all.

As she stared fixedly at that name, she recalled that look of impatience in his eyes that time at the supermarket and couldn’t help but sigh.

I must have left a very bad impression on him...

The first impression is so bad, how am I to redeem myself later….

Suddenly, a voice from the distance called her, “Wei Xi, I’m here!”

“Oh, you’re here.”

Lu Wei Xi hastily nodded her head in response and headed toward the Starbucks entrance while Fang Jing walked over. She only walked a few steps before she turned back and glanced at the misty glass. With a bit of hesitation, she wiped the world “Jian Chi” with her sleeves.

As she wiped the word from the glass she could finally see the scene inside the cafe.

Lu Wei Xi looked up and in the next second, stood frozen in place.

Sitting quietly by the window is a man in a black woolen coat, the top two buttons of his coat is unbuttoned, revealing a low collar sweater. He didn’t wear any scarf, letting a large portion of his chest exposed to the cool air.

Her line of sight moved to the table where a medical mask laid quietly in place. The man slightly nodded his head and looked at the laptop in front of him.

No doubt, if this person were to walk down the road, people couldn’t help but give him a second glance. However, the cold and indifferent aura he exerts from his body made him feel daunting.

This type of unattainable flower, it would be hard for anyone to pick it up.

Would it be enough to blaze a new trail and overcome all obstacles to reach it?

Lu Wei Xi slightly nodded her head and prudently watched him. Just at this time, she suddenly regretted wearing the ugly gray down jacket today. =

Jian Chi.

This is the third time they bumped into each other.

Isn’t it said that if you bump into each other three times, it is considered destiny? Maybe... just like that line in the radio drama, it really is fate.

Lu Wei Xi softly gazed at him. After a while, she couldn’t help but smile.

At this time, Lu Yu and Lin Yi Xuan came over. She reluctantly retracted her gaze and under Fang Jing’s urging voice, followed them inside the store.

What Lu Wei Xi didn’t see was, when she turned around, the cold man by the window who was looking at the laptop screen, looked up and glanced at the clear glass which had been wiped clean, an unfathomable look on his eyes

“Wei Xi, earlier I was calling for you but you didn’t reply for a long time. What were you looking at?” Fang Jing sat next to her and curiously asked.

“Nothing, I just saw a person I know.” Lu Wei Xi smiled and bashfully replied.

"Who? Male or female? He likes you? Or you like him?"

Fang Jing was shocked by Lu Wei Xi’s unexpected shyness. If she remembers correctly, even though Lu Wei Xi is beautiful and also very popular at school….she gives a feeling of indifference, like an iron tree that doesn’t blossom in a million years.

Fang Jing’s sudden outburst shocked Lu Wei Xi who unconsciously looked to the opposite corner of the store. After confirming that Jian Chi did not notice their movements, she breathes a sigh of relief, “Quiet down.”
“Then tell me who that person is.” Fang Jing ignored her.

Across from them, Lu Yu and Lin Yi Xuan were busy sorting out the research papers. Although they heard the two girls whispering in low voices, they were helpless to interrupt them. After all….Lu Yu has always liked Lu Weiwei.

In the beginning, because they have the same surname, he had felt some intimacy toward her. Later, as he slowly got to know her character and her singing abilities, his heart slowly moved for her.

Lu Wei Xi held the caramel macchiato with double sugar in her hand. She hesitated for a moment before whispering to Fang Jing, “Do you know of the online entertainment circle?”

“Yes, I’m also an art designer in the community!” Fang Jing quickly answered and froze. After a few seconds, she looked at Lu Wei Xi incredulously, “Are you also in the 2-D world?”

“....I just recently got into it. Actually, it was because I like the voice of someone and wanted to get in touch with his field and see what it looks like.” Lu Wei Xi looked down and drank the macchiato in her hand, “Speaking of which, who’s your favorite voice in the circle?”

“Of course it is Wonder-sama!” Fang Jing answered with no hesitation.

“What a coincidence, me too.” With her head bowed down, Lu Wei Xi revealed a satisfied smile. She secretly raised her eyes and glanced at the man sitting in the corner.

His back is facing her while he slightly crouched over while he typed, exposing his fair neck. At his side a cup of black coffee and a slice of New York cheesecake which he barely touched.

It is her favorite cake at Starbucks.

Should she go over and take the initiative to talk to him?

However, people like him, should hate being bombarded by fans in real life, right?

Quietly sitting away from him and silently watch him should be the best way to admire him.

“Yes, Wonder-sama’s voice makes me fill up with emotions. Did you listen to “Chang An’s Ancient Memory”? When I listened to it, I cried immediately. At that time, I was studying to get my Junior Accountant Certificate and I listened to it three times. Whenever I close my eyes, his voice would fill my head. It was the first time that I felt there was such an amazing voice in the world….”

When Fang Jing started talking about Wonder, she seemed as if she was injected with chicken blood*. Once she started, she couldn’t stop.

T/N: injected with chicken blood-extremely excited or energetic

“Yes, it was also the first time that I felt there was such an amazing voice in the world,” Lu Wei Xi sighed.

With such a good voice, wouldn’t it be a waste to keep it to himself?

  2. Well that's some lucky coincidence right there. I know its some "what are the odds" type of thing, but I really wonder about what's going on in Jian Chi's head when he saw his name being written next to the window where he's at. If it was me, I think I would be slightly flattered but most likely creeped out lol

    1. Yeah, especially since the online world would mostly know him as wonder while she wrote his real name o.o
