In the doctor’s office, the Zheng couple and Fang Yan anxiously waited for the doctor’s inspection report.
"Because the head has been heavily impacted, there is a resulting blood clot that squeezed the retina, causing temporary blindness in the patient.” The attending doctor pointed to the shadow on the X-ray sheet and explained it to them.
“Blindness!” When Zhang Haiying heard the word blindness, her voice increased by a few degrees.
"It’s only temporary," the doctor kindly reminded her.
“When will he recover?” Compared to his wife’s overreaction, Zheng Jialun was more rational and listened to the doctor’s words.

"Is there any other way to restore his vision as soon as possible?" Zheng Jialun asked.

Fang Yan also expectantly looks at the doctor, hoping that the next words that come out of his mouth would be good.

When they returned to the ward, Zheng Weiqian’s eyes are closed. It is unclear whether he is sleeping or not. Fang Yan sat by the bed and gently held his hand. Zheng Weiqian’s eyelids moved but he didn’t open his eyes. Fang Yan knew that he is awake and didn’t say anything as she continues to gently hold his hand.
Maybe it is because they were really exhausted by last night’s event or they wanted to give Fang Yan and Zheng Weiqian some space, the Zheng couple didn’t stay there for too long. They just ask Fang Yan to stay and take care of Zheng Weiqian and told her that they will come back tomorrow morning.
Fang Yan had no complaint about staying here to accompany Zheng Weiqian, but before that, she needs to call Pei Qing. They were supposed to return to Beijing this morning, but because of her, they were not able to. Fang Yan knows that if she leaves Zheng Weiqian like this, she would not have peace of mind so she shouldn’t hold them back.
The sky outside gradually darken. The winter sky is typically darker than the other seasons. Letting go of his hand, Fang Yan got up and walked to the door. In the hallway, she took out her phone and called Pei Qing.
“Hello.” Pei Qing’s voice sounded from the other side. As usual, it was slightly cold.

“I might have to stay in Shanghai for a while so–––”
Fang Yan hadn’t finished speaking when Pei Qing interrupted her, “Come back to work whenever you are finished. Assistant Wei and I will return to Beijing tomorrow.” Pei Qing’s voice isn’t very loud but when others hear it, they could not refuse him.

“But I will deduct the salary during this time, take it as leave without pay.” Pei Qing continued.
“Ah!!” Fang Yan felt this situation was unexpected. Leave without pay, this type of compromise would only be used by the more important employees in a company. Can a small secretary like her have this kind of special treatment? Moreover, she’s only been working for a month.
“What, you still want a salary?” Hearing Fang Yan’s reaction, Pei Qing couldn’t help but tease.
“Huh?! No, no, no, I was just too surprised.” Fang Yan truthfully told him. She originally wanted to resign so she didn’t really expect this result. This result never really crossed her mind.
“Heh, call me when you get back.” Pei Qing chuckled.
“Okay. Thank you, President Pei.” Fang Yan sincerely expressed her gratitude.
They said some pleasantries before hanging up.
Back in the ward. Zheng Weiqian stared at the ceiling with his eyes wide open. His eyes had no focus and looked very dull.
Seeing him like this, Fang Yan wanted to cry but she quickly held it back. She quickly hid her emotion and gently smiled as she sat by his bed and held his hand, “What are you thinking about?”
Zheng Weiqian was surprised to feel her hand surprised to find her here. He had been awake the entire time and knew that she had been with him the entire time. It was just that he did not have the courage to speak to her so he pretended to be asleep. He also knew that she left but he didn’t have the courage to ask her to stay. He wanted her to stay with him especially at this time. He thought that she had left leaving him alone to wonder when she will come back again. It turned out that she really didn’t leave.
“I….I thought you left.” The warmth that he felt under his hand made him feel safe. He likes the feeling of being held by her like this, it is a feeling of being overwhelmed with happiness.
“I wasn’t leaving, I only went to make a call.” Fang Yan explained to him so that he will feel at ease.
“En.” Zheng Weiqian nodded.
“The doctor said that the blindness is only temporary. After a while, the blood clot will naturally dissolve and then everything will be fine. I’ll be here with you.” Fang Yan continued.
Zheng Weiqian didn’t say anything but Fang Yan can clearly feel hand tightly clenched.
Fang Yan faintly smiled and placed a gentle kiss on his forehead. A smile slowly spread on Zheng Weiqian’s face.
“Why are you here?” They didn’t know when Lin Xuanxuan and Chen Hanyin came in. Chen Hanyin wasn’t surprised when she saw Fang Yan.
Lin Xuanxuan wordlessly sat in the wheelchair and stared straight at Fang Yan.
