“What? That’s how you answered him?” In room 306, Mu Ran Ran whose mouth is stuffed with a mango mochi hatefully stared at Lu Wei Xi with round eyes.
Lu Wei Xi took off her gray down jacket and hung it up. She turned around and nodded her head with a confused look, “Yeah, how else am I supposed to answer?”
“....Lu Wei Xi, did your fever fry your brain?” Mu Ran Ran swallowed the mochi. She looked at her and regretfully sighed, “During this type of situation, of course, you should’ve said you didn’t know so that he could send you back!”
When Lu Wei Xi heard her words, she seriously thought back to the incident, “Even if I say I didn’t know, I don’t think he will send me back. Ran Ran, do you know how overwhelming his presence is. Looking back, I was surprised I was able to muster up the courage to talk to him.” She paused and added, “Besides, even if he did send me back, our school is ten minutes away from Starbucks. With such a short distance, how could I let him send me back.”
Cheng Si Ran who was shaping her eyebrows with a razor at the side couldn’t listen any further, “I’m not picking on you Xi Xi, but if you are like this toward him when there is nothing going on between you two, if, in the future there is something going on….you might just get eaten up by him.”
Embarrassed, Lu Wei Xi couldn’t help but defend herself, “Si Ran, the feeling that I got when I saw him….it’s just like you seeing Daniel Wu when you walk down the street. There is no way I can stay calm, right now I’m still floating on Cloud Nine.”

Her heart shook. She opened the chat window and saw that she had sent a file titled “Beyond Expectations.”

The song is called “Beyond Expectations” and it's the theme song for the storyline in a famous ancient-style game which, coincidentally, is the one that Mu Ran Ran likes to play. As someone who is easily influenced by what she sees and hears, Lu Wei Xi also decided to play for a while. However, because her controls are really bad and she wasn’t keen on playing games in the first place, she rarely logged on.
Yawning, Lu Wei Xi opened the document containing the lyrics and was surprised to find that there is a story attached to the song. She rubbed her sleepy eyes and after thinking about it, she began to read the story.
Taken place in the world created by the game, the male protagonist is an assassin who was ordered by the old master to overthrow the new emperor and re-establish the previous dynasty. However, during the operation, the assassin fell into a trap and was forced to jump off a cliff. Unexpectedly, he happened to be rescued by a female doctor who had been collecting medicinal plants under the cliff.
The female doctor’s name is Xia Xi and both her parents died young. Ever since she was young, she had stayed in Bishui Village collecting medicinal plants, living an innocent and happy life. Relying on her own strength, she brought the dying assassin home to heal. Xia Xi spent most days and nights nursing him until he was out of death’s door.
The first thing the assassin thought of to do after waking up was, of course, to kill her. When the assassin was about to carry out a deadly strike, his line of sight fell on the girl and a guilty feeling filled his heart causing his hand to tremble. In the end, he just wiped away the hair on her face.
After that, there is not much to say. The two people, after spending time together, gradually fell in love. During the day, the assassin would accompany the female doctor to collect plants and in the evening would go to the back of the mountain and practice. Although life on the mountain was unsteady and is plagued with turbulent times, the two still lead a quiet and happy life in Bishui Village.
The time is more like stolen happiness. It didn't take long for the old master and the dark guard to find Bishui Village and locate the assassin. The master made a bargain with the assassin: as long as he assassinates the emperor, he will allow him to leave the dark organization and spend the rest of his life with the female doctor.
The assassin knew that he would most likely die, but he had no choice.
The ending….naturally, the assassin was killed with ten thousand arrows through his heart in the throne room. As for the female doctor who did not know what had happened, she stayed in Bishui Village and never married, spending her entire life waiting for him to come back.
Although it is a cheesy old love story, it still made her weep in the middle of the night.
En...with such a good song, she must definitely sing well. After all, she was able to foresee that this song will be popular on release.
That storyline is a melodramatic overused plot that I would gladly consume if it was written.
