I Want to Waste Away Time With You: Chapter 5

Lu Wei Xi doesn’t know how long she has been sitting there. She had already drunk two cups of coffee and the sun is about to set. The guests who have been at Starbucks for a long time have switched a new batch.

After a long time... she saw him close the computer, take the medical mask from the table and put it on, instantly cover the outline of the face.

Afraid to be discovered by the other party, Lu Wei Xi didn’t dare to make a move. She popped the collar of her down jacket and tried to make herself invisible in the corner.

When the other person got up, don’t know if it was her imagination or not, she felt him..... glanced her way.

But….she could just be overthinking it. There is no way he would look at her.

Only when the tall slender figure pushed through the door did she release a breath. She put on her bag and got up to leave. When she approached the counter on the way out, she heard the two clerks whisper in hushed voices.

She slowly approached.

"Hey, that man is so handsome, when I went to give him his coffee, he glanced at me. My heart almost stopped right there."

"I agree. He only recently started to come to our store and I have observed him for a week now. He would come every Friday and Saturday and stay for an entire afternoon. For this reason, I specifically found someone to change my shift with.”

“That’s too calculating! Next time, I must find a way to talk to him. If we can’t be a couple, we can still be friends. If I can walk with him down the streets….it will make my girlfriends jealous to death.”

“Dream on, there is no way that type of man would look at us.”

……

He would come every Friday and Saturday….Lu Wei Xi walked by the workers with her head down and silently remember this sentence in her heart.

–––––

The temperature outside the store is very cold. Lu Wei Xi walked back to school with her hands deep in the pocket of her down jacket. Her mood suddenly becoming clear and sunny.

If that’s the case….she can see him every weekend. Pei, pei, pei, she is not peeping, she just wants to secretly, from the distance, steal a few glances of him. In this way, she is already happy.

However, this happy day is far from over. When she walked out of Starbucks she saw a familiar figure up only a few steps ahead of her.

The direction he is heading to…..is the parking lot.

Lu Wei Xi stood a few steps away from him and stared at his cold back. Suddenly she closed her eyes. She didn’t know where the courage came from but she fiercely shouted at the man who was a few steps away from her.

“Jian Chi!”

The moment she blurted those two words out, she understood that it is all in vain. If you like someone, even if you want to get closer, even if you tell yourself it is crossing the line, you still want to embrace him through across the thorns.

She bit her lips and look at him, afraid that he would ignore her and walk away.

The man unexpectedly stopped.

It seemed as if a century passed before she saw him slowly turn her way.

He didn’t say anything nor did he walk over. His surprising bright pair of dark eyes quietly stare at her.

Her chest suddenly felt like it had been stuffed with a thousand rabbits, uncontrollably jumping up and down. For the first time in her life, Lu Wei Xi felt so nervous she doesn’t know what to do.

One step, two steps, three steps... finally she came to a stop in front of him.

“Don’t know if you remember me, but last week and last, last week, we bumped into each other.” When she is close to him does she notice the cold and oppressive air around him? Fortunately, the other person is tall so she is only reached his chest so he can't really see her face.

“I remember.”

A calm, distinct and magnetic voice sounded from behind the mask.

When he spoke, a few snowflakes fell on his shoulders. Just like his voice, it was cold and clean and thorough, really like the sound of jade.

“My name is Lu Wei Xi, from the poem Before Dawn in the Book of Songs. I’m a junior at University T, I….I really like your voice.” Lu Wei Xi barely said a complete sentence as she stuttered out the words making her blush. Despite the icy cold weather, Lu Wei Xi felt very hot….so hot that her brain is going haywire...like the time she got a fever.

The man in front of her quietly stood there and didn’t say a word except for when he heard her name, his eyes twinkled.

God…..what the hell is she doing? Blocking his way in the middle of the night….isn’t she like those crazy fangirls running to him like an idiot?

Think about it this way... even she feels that she has gone mad T^T.

"That... my apologies for stopping you out of nowhere. I saw you and got so excited that I couldn't hold back. You, you don't need to worry, I won't tell others that you are Wonder."

“Button.”

“....Huh?”

Jian Chi slightly nods his head toward her. His pair of black eyes were clean and almost cold. He impatiently repeated again, "You didn’t button up."

Lu Wei Xi dumbly stared at him and took a while to realize what he is saying. She looked down and saw that when she came out, she had not buttoned up her down jacket properly.

She was actually noticed by him and it was while she is wearing this ugly gray down jacket.

Lu Weiwei looked as if she was about to cry as she began to button up one by one. The person standing in front of her did not react, so she lowered her eyes and tried hard to focus on her trembling moving hands.

“You buttoned it wrong.”

Jian Chi informed her, his voice deep and profound. For some reason, when she heard his voice, her mood got better.

She clasps the button in her hand and cursed in her heart that this jacket had too many buttons. She looked up and was about to get the courage to say something, but he had already walked away.

“Do you know the way back to school?” He coldly and indifferently questioned.

Lu Wei Xi was too immersed in his voice to respond. After a few seconds, she instinctively replied, “Yes.”

Jian Chi looked at her and nodded. He placed his hands in his pocket and turned away again.

“Go back.”

On the cold streets, his voice sounds desolate and indifferent but he carried a bit of gentleness, like a beam of light in the dark night. Although it is feeble and light, it is enough to make someone sway.
