It is already 10:30 in the evening. There are fewer people on the street. Occasionally a car would screech by and disappear into the cold night.
Under the dim light, Jian Chi’s hand looks almost transparent, the temperature in his hand is low as if it had always been that way.

When she looked up, she saw a beautiful woman walking in front of them. Her makeup is flawless and she is wearing a long skin-tight black dress, accentuating her long legs and thin waist. Even Lu Wei Xi who is a woman couldn’t help but glanced at her a few times.

He frowned but still looked over at where is looking at.
“Do you think she’s beautiful?”

When they reached the entrance of University T, Lu Wei Xi paused and unconsciously kicked the pebbled on the ground, “You can leave me here.”
Jian Chi silently stared at her, his eyes dark and clean.
Occasionally, couples who were out on a stroll and students coming back from a late-night snack walked past them. She could feel countless eyes projected on their bodies. Lu Wei Xi uncomfortably lowered her head. Fortunately, it is late at night so they might not be able to clearly see her and Jian Chi’s face.
Reason tells her that she should say goodbye right now but emotionally, she wants to stay with Jian Chi a little longer.
Without thinking, she suddenly blurted out.
“Jian Chi, why don’t I show you around University T.”
As soon as those words left her mouth, Lu Wei Xi suddenly regretted it.
Was she too hasty? Will he think that she is too unrestrained for taking him on a tour around the school in the middle of the night?
But he only smiled, his eyes shining brightly.
“OK.”
Maybe because he rarely shows such a warm smile, Lu Wei Xi just stared at him in a daze. She suddenly felt that he looks really good when he smiles….which makes her want to hide him and not let anyone else see it.
Lu Wei Xi’s head was spinning fast. She took Jian Chi’s hand and walked the other way, “To avoid any unnecessary trouble with the security guards, we should enter through the back entrance. Then I will take you to visit my secret base.”
The secret base that Lu Wei Xi mentioned is the rooftop terrace at University T which had been abandoned a long time ago.
The history of this rooftop is as old as University T, seventy years. Originally, this is a couple’s hotspot on campus. After 9:30 every night, there would be a lot of couples spotted at this location watching the stars and acting lovey-dovey. But then, there was a major renovation in University T one year. They remodeled the rooftop of two other teaching buildings and even built an artificial lake in the open space behind the school. Over time, no one comes here anymore.
Lu Wei Xi took Jian Chi through the familiar road and walked up the stairs. She couldn’t help but fill up the quiet air, “I came across this secret base by chance. Because the scenery here is particularly good and no one comes around here, I would come here whenever I’m in a bad mood or when I’m stressed about exams. I can enjoy the sun during the day and watch the stars at night.” She blinked and seriously said, “I have never told anyone about this place. You are the first.”
Jian Chi stayed silent.
She pushed open the rusted iron gates. When one caught sight of the open space, with one glance, they can tell that this place had been abandoned.
Lu Wei Xi walked to the center of the rooftop and breathed in. Out of habit, she looked up at the stars.
Jian Chi also moved over to her and naturally stood closely by her side to not knock over the stack of planks at the side.
There were a lot of stars out tonight, shining brightly and dazzling.
She looked up at the sky for a long time before she gently asked him, “Jian Chi, if I become more capricious and needier in the future, will you hate me?”
“No.”
“Then, if we are together in the future and I show more and more shortcomings, will you be disappointed in me?”
“No.”
“And…..if we see each other more often in the future, will you get tired of me?”
“No.”
He answered each sentence without hesitation, simply and neatly.
At this moment, the distance between the two people is only a hand away. They can clearly hear each other’s breathing. He slowly approached her bit by bit. His cool minty scent entered her nose. She lowered her head, not daring to look at him. Her heart violently thumped in her chest, threatening to jump out to the sky.
A cold hand touched her waist, pulling her forward. She could resist and could only passively fall into his arms.
Jian Chi’s other hand supported her head. Then the next second, without hesitation, he sealed her lips with his.
The reason to like someone can be very simple or it can also be very complicated. But more often than not, the reason to like someone is simple and complicated. It’s like his feelings for Lu Wei Xi are unclear and incomprehensible like spiritual opium. Consuming more will add to the addiction making it hard for them to stop. It is beyond cure, cannot be saved.
After an unknown amount of time, he finally released her from the kiss.
The evening wind blew over his dark hair on his forehead. Jian Chi’s eyes were soft in the deep night, “I would never do anything of those things you mentioned. On the contrary, I will love you more and more every day. Cherish you even more until I can’t live without you.”
