When Pei Qing arrived at Fang Yan’s apartment, Zheng Weiqian had still not left. His tie hung loosely around his neck and his usually combed hair was in a mess while he held his exquisitely tailored suit in his hand. His entire body radiated a bit of dispiritedness and he leaned against the door with his eye half squinting. Pei Qing seriously looked at Zheng Weiqian and then at the room number to make sure Fang Yan gave him the right address.
Zheng Weiqian studied the man in front of him. He looked to be around 30 years old with an extraordinary temperament. According to how he is dressed, he looked to be someone with a great identity.
Pei Qing walked over and stopped in front of him, much to Zheng Weiqian’s surprise. He pressed the doorbell and after waiting for a while, the door did not open. He continued to press the doorbell but the door still did not open. This time, he did not ring the doorbell and directly knock on the door, “Fang Yan, open the door. It’s Pei Qing.”
This time, Fang Yan opened the door and came out with a bag of clothes. Her face color doesn’t look too good and her eyes are red. It’s obvious that she had just cried. Fang Yan reached out to grab his hand. She gave him a not-so-good-looking smile and said, “Let’s go.”
Pei Qing fixedly stared at her not understanding her action but he didn’t ask. He took the bag from her and carry it on his shoulder. Then he took her hand and leave.
Zheng Weiqian stared at Fang Yan but she didn’t turn to look at him from beginning to end. Her hands are tightly held by that man named Pei Qing. Watching them leave with their hands tightly clasped together, Zheng Weiqian couldn’t help but cry out, “Fang Yan….”
Fang Yan’s footsteps faltered but she didn’t look back. However, Pei Qing could feel her hands trembling and turned to look at her. Fang Yan smiled at him and walked again.
Zheng Weiqian watched her disappear into the corridor until she was out of sight. He felt that he had finally lost her. This feeling is even more intense than ever before. He wanted to get up and chase after her but realized that he doesn’t have the qualifications to do so. He thought of Lin Xuanxuan, the woman who he took as his little sister who is pregnant with his own child. He was the one who personally pushed Fang Yan away because he wasn’t confident enough to believe in her love for him.
There are some blurred lines when it comes to love but too much would only push you further away.
Pei Qing hailed a taxi and gave the driver the address. Fang Yan leaned against the window and look out. She wasn’t looking at the scenery but the scene of Zheng Weiqian appeared in front of her. Her tears threatened to fall once again. Pei Qing looked at her but didn’t ask her anything nor did he try to comfort her.
On the third day in Shanghai, the Singapore investors met with Pei Qing. Since the preparation of the plan by Pei Qing is quite adequate, and the real estate is originally in a very popular area, the two parties have determined the initial intention of cooperation in this short period of time. The other party even proposed to send people to inspect the area. The night before they leave, the Singapore investors, in order to open up their own market in Shanghai, deliberately held a party and invited local and well-known companies in Shanghai as well as Pei Qing to participate.
Fang Yan really didn’t want to attend since she doesn’t not like these types of gatherings. Not to mention, she suspects that Yinglun would also be invited to this party. However, since Pei Qing doesn’t have a partner, he brought her along, giving her no chance to escape.
Fang Yan held Pei Qing’s hand and came in. Today, she wore a black evening gown, conforming to the norms, but doesn’t stand out. Pei Qing wore a tailored fit suit which brought out his heroic spirit and handsomeness. Coupled with his domineering and reclusive temperament, he was able to capture the attention of many ladies present. They first went to greet the host and then Pei Qing starts to walk around the room. Although Pei Qing is from Beijing, his real estate business is doing pretty well, so he knows some people in Shanghai. Fang Yan could only humbly sit by the corner and wait for him.
Sure enough, Zheng Weiqian was also invited to this dinner party. Lin Xuanxuan indeed knows how to live in the spotlight. She knows how to dress herself up, what kind of dress to wear and what makeup to apply. Everything about her is perfect. As always, she became the focus of everyone’s attention. Whether it is appearance or family background, she and Zheng Weiqian, in front of everybody’s eyes, is indeed a perfect match. Fang Yan felt her heartache and turned to walk to the balcony.
Not long after he entered, Zheng Weiqian noticed Pei Qing. He is the man who left with Fang Yan. He unconsciously looked around but couldn’t find her.
“What is it?” Lin Xuanxuan noticed his subtle change and turned to ask.
Zheng Weiqian wordlessly shook his head and went to talk to people he knows. Lin Xuanxuan didn’t ask any more questions. She knows that even is she asks, he won’t even tell her.
During this short time, Lin Xuanxuan was able to see the change in Zheng Weiqian. He no longer treats her as a little sister but with more distance. After that incident, he drew a clear boundary between them. She waited two months before giving him the pregnancy report. After that, they quickly set the wedding for two months. She thought that it would change the awkward relationship between them but it seemed like it only drove him farther away. He would use the excuse of work to avoid her. As for the wedding, he left it all for her to decide. Seeing him acting this way, Lin Xuanxuan couldn’t help but wonder if this is the Zheng Weiqian she wanted. She knows that he is only doing this for the sake of the child. But sadly, she discovered that this is the only chip she could use.
Pei Qing found Fang Yan out in the balcony blankly staring out into the distance hugging herself as if she is cold.
“Why are you out here alone?” Pei Qing took off his coat and put it over her shoulders.
“It’s too stuffy inside.” Fang Yan turned and smiled at him.
“Is it because of someone?” He already saw that the man from before is also here. It turns out he is Yinglun’s Zheng Weiqian. Although he doesn’t know what happened between him, judging by what happened the other day, it must not be good.
“I never like these kinds of events.” Fang Yan glanced at him.
“Then let’s go.” Pei Qing pulled her hand and turned away.
“Go where?” Having been pulled by him, Fang Yan could only keep up.
“Talk to Director Chen for a bit and then leave.” Pei Qing pulled Fang Yan over to where Director Chen is. Next to him stood Lin Xuanxuan and Zheng Weiqian.
“I never like these kinds of events.” Fang Yan glanced at him.
“Then let’s go.” Pei Qing pulled her hand and turned away.
“Go where?” Having been pulled by him, Fang Yan could only keep up.
“Talk to Director Chen for a bit and then leave.” Pei Qing pulled Fang Yan over to where Director Chen is. Next to him stood Lin Xuanxuan and Zheng Weiqian.
